MANOR designs houses for the edges of Britain — headlands, dunes, river mouths, and quiet stretches of shore. We begin with the land and the weather it carries, and we let those forces shape the plan.
Our work is unhurried. We build in stone, lime, oak, and glass, choosing materials that weather honestly and grow more themselves with age. Every house is drawn to hold light through the whole arc of a day.
We are a small studio by intention. We take few projects, and we stay close to each one — from the first walk across a site to the season after the owners move in.
Light
We plan around the sun’s path so each room receives the day at the hour it is most used — morning in the kitchen, low gold in the evening rooms.
Material
Stone, lime, oak, and glass — chosen to weather honestly. We avoid finishes that hide their age and favour surfaces that improve with touch and time.
Place
Every house begins with its ground. We read the wind, the water, and the line of the land, and we let the site set the terms of the plan.
Endurance
We build for the long arc of weather and ownership — homes detailed to stand for generations and to ask little of the people who live in them.
